Today marked the beginning of the TIF2024 National Selection Showroom, where aspiring idols from across Japan gather to compete for a chance to shine at the Tokyo Idol Festival, the country’s biggest idol event.
Reflecting on Last Year
Last year, I cheered on Isekai Idol parallelxparade in a tight competition against Prism Heart and .BPM. This time, with parallelxparade absent, I’ve shifted my support and exploration to other groups. While familiar faces like WONDERSNAKE and Rabbitbit return, the number of participating groups has swelled to 84 from a measly 61, promising an even more intense battle for the hearts of otaku.

Understanding the event
The essence of the event is simple. Viewers send their favorite groups with gifts during the livestream earning points for them, the top goes to the final, and whoever wins the final, gets to go to TIF.
While it may seem daunting for those reluctant to spend, there are ample opportunities to earn freebies through missions and using the free kirakira stars.
Day One Highlights
Today was quite the adventure, thanks to some unexpected help from my friends. One of them really stepped up by generously contributing over 800+ gold. Then there was another friend, who also chipped in to show some support. But the real game-changer? It was my strategy of hitting up other streams to tackle daily missions beforehand, consistently securing MAX free gold. It was a simple yet effective plan that paid off big time. All in all, it was a day filled with unexpected teamwork and victories.
